The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society is looking for volunteers to help index New York State land records.
FamilySearch.org has digitized millions of original pages from county offices across New York State. The entire project is expected to take several more years.
If you would like to index these records, you will need to set up a free user name and password to log on to FamilySearch.org. Once logged on, click on the Indexing tab and select Find a Project. Click on the word Projects and in the Project name box enter the words New York.
Currently the available projects are:
Adirondacks – Index to Land Records, Grantors, 1630-1975 [Part 1]
Central Regions – Index to Land Records, Grantees, 1630-1975 [Part F]
Western Regions – Index to Land Records, Grantees, 1630-1975 [Part E]
