The Irish Family History Forum, a member of the Genealogical Federation of Long Island, will be having a free tour of the New York City Municipal Archives in Manhattan on Tuesday, June 4 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
You must make your own way to the Municipal Archives. The group will meet in the Archives lobby at 10:45 a.m. and check in with the Forum representative.
The Archives holds millions of digitized birth, death, and marriage records dating from 1855 to 1949. In addition, its family history resources include census records, city directories, Chief Medical Examiner records, bodies-in-transit registers, almshouse ledgers, Old Town records, and Common Council and court records.
The Municipal Archives is located at 31 Chambers St., Manhattan, between Centre and Elk Streets. To enter the archives, each person must pass through a magnetometer. Please do not bring sharp objects.
Registration is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please email Patricia Phelan at programs@ifhf.org no later than this Thursday, May 23.
There is a wheelchair-accessible entrance at the back of the building on Reade Street.
