I have some more sad news to report. It is with great sadness that I note the passing of a long-time Representative to the Genealogy Federation of Long Island, Robert Farrell. Bob passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was tireless in his volunteering and dedicated to promoting genealogy.
He spent 20 years compiling a book “Our veterans brave and noble : an index with military & biographical sketches of the Civil War soldiers, sailors & marines from Huntington Town, in Suffolk County, NY, 1861-1865” which was later expanded to all of Long Island.
For over 20 years Bob, along with Bill Chamberlain, were the Huntington Historical Society program chairmen. He was also involved with the North Shore Civil War Roundtable and the Sons of Union Veterans.
Visitation will be at M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Dec. 27, 9:30 am at St. Hugh of Lincoln R.C. Church in Huntington Station.
