It is with much sadness that we share the news of the death of our long-time past GFLI President Joysetta Pearse.
She, along with her husband Julius, were recently honored when Nassau County renamed the Nassau County African American Museum The Joysetta & Julius Pearse African American Museum of Nassau County. Joysetta was also the president and founder of The African Atlantic Genealogical Society, Inc. (TAAGS), which she started with her husband in 1994.
Joysetta was a very active leader in educating others in discovering their family history on Long Island for decades and will be missed.
