There will be a Celebration of Life service for Julius Otto Pearse this Saturday, Jan. 11, from 2-4 p.m. at the Carl C. Burnett Funeral Home, 456 S. Franklin Street in Hempstead.
Julius and his wife Joysetta were long-time volunteers to both the Genealogy Federation of Long Island and the Long Island genealogy community.
The Pearses founded the African Atlantic Genealogical Society in 1994 and in May 2021, the Nassau County Black History Museum in Hempstead was renamed the Joysetta & Julius Pearse African American Museum of Nassau County.
