Postcards As Genealogy Research Tools – Virtual
February 13 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Presenter: Pamela Morris-Nila
Postcards were in wide use from 1890 to 1960. A postcard contains the address of a receiver and the exact date the postcard was sent to that person at that location. This is especially helpful in tracking the locations of ancestors from 1890 and 1941 forward.
As part of the program there will be an overview of postcard history and why this is important to your genealogical research; investigation of various postcard databases; discussion of various use cases; and instruction on how to cite postcards per genealogical standards.
Registration can be made through the Events Calendar page at any of the following library websites: Bayville, Glen Cove, Gold Coast, Locust Valley, Manhasset, or Oyster Bay-East Norwich.
