Novel New York City Records
February 8, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Presenter Alec Ferretti
This lecture will discuss records that are typically overlooked, either because they are not well-known, or because they are not thought to be genealogically relevant. Examples include licensing records, court records, voter registrations, education records, and the 1917 Military Census. Some of these records are available at the Municipal Archives or the City Clerk, while others reside with the agencies that created them, and are only accessible by making Freedom of Information Requests. Ways to legally work around privacy restrictions will be discussed.
