Jewish Genealogical Resources in the Archives of Southern and Southeastern Ukraine – Virtual

Presenter: Alex Denisenko

Alex Denisenko will provide a brief history of the former Ekaterinoslav, Kharkov, Kherson and Tavride gubernias of Czarist Russia, then review the many significant archival collections available there for Jewish historical and genealogical research. He will also discuss the challenges involved in using these records — such as reading old Russian handwriting and understanding archaic terms, acronyms, and unfamiliar Jewish terms.
