Aims or Purpose of Group

The Genealogy Workshop aims to promote and advance the study of genealogy and to assist members in their genealogical research.

 

Service, Resources, or Benefits Provided to Members

The Genealogy Workshop provides 10 monthly newsletters and monthly meetings with special programs or guest speakers. There is an annual research trip to Salt Lake City each spring led by members of the organization. 

A Resource Center and Archives, located at 209 Main Street, Huntington, is open to members and non-members on Monday and Thursday from 1-4 p.m. Items at the Resource Center and Archives include: books, photographs, documents, maps, family histories and biographies. Appointments are required. There is a $5 fee for non-members.

For those who cannot visit in person, record search fees for members are: $15 in advance for resource review and initial response; $12 per hour thereafter. Search fees for non-members are: $20 in advance and $15 per hours thereafter.

Normal Meeting Schedule (Please confirm before attending since schedules do change.)

Meetings are free and open to the public. There is no charge for guest or non-members.

Meetings are usually held:

First Saturday of Month, 10:30 a.m. 

South Huntington Public Library, 145 Pidgeon Hill Road, Huntington Station.

Membership Information:

Membership year begins January 1. Dues can be paid by mail or online through the website. 

Individual dues plus the genealogy newsletter are $50; Senior/students dues plus the newsletter are $40; Family dues plus the newsletter are $70; Senior couple dues plus the newsletter are $60. Other memberships levels are available. See the website for more information.
